Getting Here

DRIVING DIRECTIONS
From SFO follow signs to 101 North which will take you through San Francisco and over the Golden Gate Bridge. Your drive from the Golden Gate Bridge to Mendocino will take you approximately 3½ hours, or much more if you hit northbound afternoon commute traffic.  From the Golden Gate Bridge, continue on 101 North to the town of Cloverdale, California (just over 80 miles). There you exit on the 128 WEST (not east) toward Fort Bragg/Mendocino. (Be aware that 128 West comes about a mile after 128 East.) Route 128 is a winding, hilly and scenic road. (Although there are some easy spots with nice straightaways.) Be advised that you may spot deer along the road (or even in it!) Where you see one deer, there may be several more nearby, so please drive carefully.  When given the choice, it’s best to travel this road during daylight hours. The halfway point on 128 is Boonville, where you might want to stretch your legs, use the restroom, or grab a snack at one of the local delis, cafes, or the Redwood Drive-in.  There are a number of wineries along the way.  If you decide to do any tasting, please use a designated driver.  You know you’re getting close to the ocean as you pass through 11 miles of redwood forest. Route 128 will become Route 1 as it follows the coastline North through the villages of Albion & Little River. This last little leg of your trip is about 10 miles and will bring you to Mendocino Village.  To get to Festival Headquarters, Turn Left at the first Mendocino exit from Route 1 onto Main Street. Go 3 blocks and turn right onto Kasten St. The Mendocino Film Festival Headquarters is located on the corner of Kasten & Ukiah Streets in the old Oddfellows building.  Look for the blue flags. We look forward to seeing you!

Once here, enjoy our spectacular coastline but please observe the following precautions.  First, resist the temptation to go to the cliff edges.  The cliff edges are irregular, unstable and unprotected by rails.  Next, because of occasional rogue waves, our local rule of thumb is “Don’t turn your back on the surf!”
